Policies for publishing to this site

The content of this website does not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the Ipswich Swimming Club.
Whilst the Club has no wish to restrict full and free debate and they do welcome contributions from all interested parties, it has a responsibility to protect swimmers, to uphold the sport of amateur swimming and to ensure a balanced debate. As such, it will exercise editorial control over what is published.

Disclaimer:

Although this website is hypertext linked to sites operated by third parties the Webmaster or Ipswich Swimming Club accept no responsibility or liability arising in respect of any content on such site nor shall their presence be deemed to be a recommendation or endorsement of such sites by Ipswich Swimming Club.

Editorial control

The Webmaster will have day-to-day control over what is published. They will not publish, or will remove, material that they consider offensive, inflammatory or which could lead to legal action against the Club or Webmaster or to the site being closed down by the Service Provider. Wherever possible, the Webmaster will contact the author and explain the action taken and will attempt to resolve the matter. Issues that cannot be resolved between the author and the Webmaster will be referred to the Club Committee for a decision.

Copyright

The Webmaster will not knowingly publish material that breaks copyright conditions. They will remove such material on request from the copyright holder or their representatives, as soon as possible after being informed. Where copyrighted material is published, the holder will be acknowledged.
The Club retain the copyright on all material created by the Webmaster.
Please get the permission of the Webmaster before publishing any material from this site elsewhere. Feel free to link to this site from your web site.

Privacy, Child Protection and Data Protection

The Webmaster will conform to the Guidelines on child protection, contained in the 'ASA Guidelines for Club Websites.'
The Webmaster will endeavour not to publish, or will remove, personal information about named or identifiable individuals that those individuals or representatives do not wish to be disclosed, unless there is a clear public interest in so doing.
In the case of swimming PBs and points, they will publish them unless the swimmer or their representative specifically requests that they should not be disclosed. The latter should do so directly to the Webmaster or via their coach.
The Webmaster will provide details of all information held on an individual, on request from themselves or their representative. The Webmaster may take measures to confirm the identity of the requestor.

Right of reply

The Webmaster will endeavour not to publish controversial material without first offering other parties the right to reply. If there is a strong interest in the material being published quickly, they will offer other parties the right to reply as soon as reasonably possible. The webmaster will attempt to give equal prominence and space to counter-opinions and views.

Commerciality and Advertising

This site will not specifically endorse any goods and services over competing brands, nor will it carry advertising for such goods and services. This will not prevent the site carrying reviews of products by independent third-parties, nor will it prevent contributors expressing personal preferences, provided it is clear that they are their personal opinion. The site may carry hyperlinks to sponsors sites; this will not be an endorsement of products or services of the sponsor over other providers.

Timeliness

The Webmaster will aim to publish material within the timescale agreed with the person submitting it. This is expected to be approximately weekly, more rapidly for material with a short shelf life.
